Founded in 2006, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras is the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast, encompassing five orchestras, a jazz ensemble, and instrumental chamber ensembles.
GYSO offers meaningful musical experiences for students ranging in ability level from advanced high school students to elementary students with one year of experience. An audition is required to be admitted into GYSO.

As GYSO members, students enjoy continuing their musical development in a supportive environment while performing at the highest level during a full season of concerts. Each ensemble is led by professional musicians and music educators who provide comprehensive experiences for students pursuing excellence on an individual and collective artistic level.
The Mission of GYSO is to inspire young people to discover their full potential through creativity and performance, and to build and develop the discipline and spirit to accomplish their musical goals. Further, GYSO endeavors to provide artistic opportunities for all people and to enhance the quality of cultural life in our communities.

Why GYSO?
As one of the largest youth orchestra programs in the country, GYSO features five orchestras, a jazz ensemble, and multiple chamber groups. We provide an elite environment for musicians of all levels—from beginners with one year of experience to the most advanced high school performers.
The GYSO Experience
Weekly Rehearsals:
Consistent training under the guidance of professional music educators.
Performances:
Two to three major concerts per year.
Professional Coaching:
Students receive direct mentorship and additional coaching from members of Atlanta area ensembles, including:
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera Orchestra, Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, Atlanta Chamber Players, Georgian Chamber Players, and the KSU Bailey School of Music
