GYSO CONCERTO COMPETITION

Each year GYSO hosts a concerto competition to highlight some of our outstanding musicians. The winner gets the opportunity to perform the concerto as a soloist with the orchestra on our season finale. Interested students should follow the instructions on this page.

2016-2017 Season Winners

This years Concerto Competition results are:

Congratulations to all that auditioned this year! Raunak will be performing Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto with the GYSO Symphony in May. We look forward to everyone's efforts next fall.

1. Auditions will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, January 28th, 2017 at Kennesaw State University.

2. Auditions are limited to 10 minutes of an approved concerto. Competitors should prepare a section of their concerto that fits within this time frame and best represents their ability. The proctor will indicate when time is up.

3. Competitors must secure an accompanist for the audition. (No exceptions.)

4. All applicants will be informed of their audition times by January 7th, 2016.

5. Warm-up space will be available in the practice rooms at KSU prior to your audition.

6. The winner(s) will perform with the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra on the May concerts. The judges have the right to declare no winner.

7. Each winner's piece or selected movement(s) must not exceed 20 minutes.

8. The competition is open to Symphony and Philharmonia GYSO students only.
